“The Supreme Head”
Vinayaka meaning “the supreme head” or “the one without any other head over him”. Vinayaka Chaturthi, also known as Ganesh Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Ganesha.

BIRTH STORY OF LORD GANESHA
Once, the goddess Parvati, wife of Lord Shiva, decided to take a bath. She wanted someone to guard the entrance while she bathed, but since there was no one around, she decided to create a guard herself.
Parvati took some turmeric paste (which she used for bathing) and molded it into the shape of a boy. She then breathed life into the figure, and thus, a beautiful boy was born. Parvati was pleased with her creation and treated the boy as her own son.
Parvati is a form of Devi, the Parashakti (Supreme Energy). In the human body, She resides in the Muladhara chakra as the Kundalini shakti. It is said that when we purify ourselves, ridding ourselves of the impurities that bind us, then the Lord automatically comes.

SYMBOLISM
Ganesha is easily recognizable by his elephant head and four arms. He is often depicted with a potbelly, signifying his love for sweets and his ability to consume and digest obstacles. The swastika, Om, modak are his sacred symbols.
NAMES
Ganesha is known by various names, including Ganapati, Vinayaka, Pillaiyar, and Vighnaraja. His name “Ganesha” is a Sanskrit compound, combining “gana” (group or multitude) and “isha” (lord or master)
OCCASION
Ganesha Chaturthi, a 10-day festival, is dedicated to his worship. Devotees install clay idols of Ganesha in their homes and offer prayers, sweets, and other offerings. The festival is celebrated in late summer (August-September) and is a significant event in Hindu culture.
BELIEVE
As the remover of obstacles, Ganesha is invoked at the beginning of new ventures, rituals, and ceremonies. He is also the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors, and is believed to grant success, prosperity, and protection against adversity.
